Ibi Aziz is one of the most active viola da gamba performers of his generation. He studied the gamba at Trinity College of Music, London, where, under the tutelage of Alison Crum he won numerous awards and prizes, including the college’s first Early Music Prize (2001), the Ricordi Conducting Prize (2004), and the Isabelle Bond Gold Medal (2005). In 2009 he was a finalist in the Bach-Abel International Viola da Gamba Competition in Koethen, Germany. Ibi now plays regularly with The Rose Consort of Viols, Sestina Consort, and Charivari Agreable, often working alongside many distinguished musicians that have included sopranos Evelyn Tubb and Dame Emma Kirkby, lutenist David Miller, mezzo sopranos Clare Wilkinson and Catherine King, and the vocal groups The Deller Consort and Stile Antico. As well as being in great demand as a player, Ibi also does a great deal of teaching, appearing regularly on many early music courses in the UK, Europe, and more recently, in the United States. He teaches at Morley College, London, where he directs the Baroque Consort and the Viol Consort classes every week. He enjoys travelling around the world performing and teaching, and look forward to doing more in the coming years.

A modern cellist by training, Jennifer Barron was first introduced to the viol while studying at the University of Kansas. She knew even from her first days of playing continuo for the early music vocal ensemble, directed by former King’s Singer Simon Carrington, that early music was a good match – and quickly gained recognition as one of the country’s up-and-coming young viol players. She participated in the Viola da Gamba Society of America’s Consort Cooperative program during its first two years, coaching and playing with a dozen promising young professionals from North America. While based in Madison, Wisconsin, Jennifer also taught a viol consort at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and taught viol on the faculty of the Madison Early Music Festival – one of the country’s newest and most dynamic smaller early music festivals. In 2006, Jennifer moved to London to further enhance her knowledge of the viol by studying with Alison Crum at Trinity College of Music. She continues to live in London and has performed with a number of ensembles, including Sestina Consort, Chelys, Greenwich Baroque, Flackton Players, Ensemble Tambourin, and Charivari Agréable. In addition, she is in demand as a session cellist and pursues projects that integrate viol into the world of mainstream rock music, including a recent performance by the viol consort Chelys, along with singer Greg Hall, at the Green Man Festival, one of the UK’s premiere outdoor rock festivals.
