Totnes Early Music Society

The Totnes Early Music Society (TEMS) was established in 1999. In September 2019, we celebrate our 20th anniversary. See our list of concerts going back to 1999 here.

We offer six concerts between September and April each year of music from medieval times up to late baroque and early classical. Music ranging from intimate ballads and rousing dance music, sacred and secular, instrumental and sung, from the streets, saloons and royal courts, crossing national boundaries. Our performers are professional musicians respected in the Early Music fields with a sprinkling of younger performers who are establishing their careers. Most have trained at top colleges and conservatoires and have played with nationally and internationally known early music ensembles.

Information on the six concerts in the season appear on the Concert diary page and the
Concert details page gives information about the musicians and the programmes.

Advance tickets for the first three concerts will be avaiable from early July from the Dartington
Box Office (01803 847070), online at and in person at the Totnes Bookshop in the High Street. A £1 discount is available for tickets purchased in advance. Tickets are always available on the door.

With thanks to.....
TEMS is pleased to be working in collaboration with
The Arts at Dartington once more. We are grateful to the Arts Council Grants for the Arts programme which helped us buy new staging for St Mary's Church in 2017. We thank St Mary's Church PCC and The United Free Church for hosting our concerts and the TEMS members whose continued support ensures that the highest standards of early music performance are maintained in the South West.
